Development Manager - Client Team
We are seeking an experienced development manager to lead our Client Realization Team. This group is responsible for developing shrink-wrapped consumer applications based on the Devicescape Easy WiFi platform – both as Devicescape branded products, and also for Devicescape’s customers and partners.
Details of Responsibilities:
The successful candidate is responsible for managing the mobile client development team. This position requires team management skills, and also extensive experience developing consumer-ready mobile applications. Read again: this position requires mobile application experience with heavily UI based apps - examples would be Facebook, Yelp, Foursquare etc. The candidate should have a thorough knowledge of user-experience development through the use of formal processes such as use-cases. Experience with Agile development also preferred.
In addition to the in-house development team, the development manager will be required to manage concurrent outsourced development projects in order to scale the team quickly. As a result, experience with managing contract engineering, for example oDesk, is required.
Platform knowledge developing for iPhone, Android, Nokia Symbian S60 and Windows Phone is also required (although Android is the priority platform).
A director level title will be considered based on the candidate’s experience.
Required experience and knowledge:
- Minimum 7+ years of experience as a Development Manager in a related space
- A history of developing and launching successful software products, and a track record of success at previous companies
- Experience with flexible product development life-cycles
- Experience with managing out-sourced contract engineering projects
- Extensive experience developing consumer mobile applications required – no exceptions
- Leadership and initiative to get multiple tasks completed independently
- Excellent written and verbal skills, and the ability to present and interact with customers and partners
- Solid technical background, with an understanding of Wi-Fi, mobile communication and mobile platforms.

Senior Android Developer, Mobile Clients
We are seeking an experienced senior developer to help develop Devicescape's products on the Android platform.
Details of Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing a series of Easy WiFi mobile clients on the Google Android mobile platform, written in both C and Java. This position is a senior role in a small team, and requires a deep technical understanding of the Android platform. The successful candidate must have previously developed Android based consumer applications.
Required experience and knowledge:
- 5+ years of development experience, of which 2+ years have been spent developing mobile applications
- Android development experience
- Strong programming skills in Android, C and Java
- Desire to work in a small startup environment
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Solid understanding of mobile wireless technologies
- Bachelor's degree (Masters preferred)
Senior J2EE Developer – Platform Team
We are seeking an experienced senior developer to help develop the J2EE based server infrastructure that implements the Easy WiFi SaaS offering. Extensive experience developing highly scalable J2EE/MySQL/JBoss web infrastructures is required.
Details of Responsibilities:
The successful candidate is responsible for developing the EasyWiFi hosted service, which is implemented in Java using a J2EE / JBoss based platform. This position is a senior role in a small team, and requires extensive technical knowledge in all the relevant areas. This position also requires a track record of previous success in similar technical areas.
Required experience and knowledge:
- 8+ years of development experience, of which at least 4 years has been spent developing software using Java & J2EE
- Strong object oriented programming skills (Java and/or C++)
- Fluency in web services and distributed architectures
- Experience in developing applications using Hibernate preferred
- Solid experience with JBoss and MySQL required
- Java development experience with solid understanding of advanced Java topics such as multithreading, garbage collection internals, memory profiling, and JDBC
- Desire to work in a startup environment, and interested in technical challenges and improving existing systems
- Excellent written and verbal skills, and the ability to present and interact with customers and partners
- Solid technical background, with an advanced understanding of web systems architecture
